Iowa City Police: Fight Breaks Up 100-Person House Party, Resident Arrested on Warrant

An Iowa City resident with an outstanding warrant for an unrelated offense was arrested after a fight at a large house party drew police attention.

An Iowa City man was was arrested yesterday after a series of events Saturday morning led him to being sought by the police for an outstanding warrant.

According to an Iowa City Police complaint, officers were called to a 100-person house party at 606 S. Johnson Street at 12:34 a.m. Saturday after there was report of a fight on the premises. As the police arrived, the crowd scattered out of the house, leaving the police to sort out those who remained.

One of the residents, Brian James Foulkes Jr., 22, admitted to being a resident of the home, according to the complaint. After police say they told Foulkes to stay put, they came back to find that he had later disappeared. After interviewing the other roommates the police determined that Foulkes had either hid inside the house or left because he had an open warrant for his arrest, according to the complaint. Officers were unable to find him at the scene after further searching.

The tenants were charged with keeping a disorderly house for the party, which reportedly resulted in loud racous music, people screaming, and a fight where one victim said he had been struck in the head inside.

Foulkes was booked into the Johnson County Jail on Feb. 12 and charged with disorderly house, interference with official acts, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Foulkes is currently still in the jail on $3,000 bond.
