Iowa City Police Searching for Suspect in U.S. Bank Robbery

The U.S. Bank on Mormon Trek Boulevard was robbed Friday evening by a masked man with a silver handgun. Police are still searching for information about the robber, who remains at large.

No one was hurt Friday evening after a masked man dressed all in black brandished a silver handgun in the U.S. Bank branch at 2312 Mormon Trek Boulevard and made off with an unspecified amount of money.

According to a press release, police are still looking for the culprit after being oringally called to the scene at 5:21 p.m. Officers searched the area after arriving but found no sign of the suspect.

The robber obscured his face, but is being described as being a male of unknown race, five foot, nine inches in height and weighing a little less than 200 hundred pounds, according to the release.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the armed robbery to call them at 319-356-5275.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is also offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the man. Anyone with information about this crime should contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential and the person who gives information does not have to reveal their identity to receive the award.
