Iowa City Police Blotter: September 2

Azaira Quintero Hernandez, 19, of Coralville, was charged with interference with official acts, allowing the possession of drugs in a residence, misdemeanor marijuana possession and felony heroin possession for an offense that allegedly occurred on September 1 at her residence in Coralville. Another following arrests in the past few days, authorities say they executed a narcotics search warrant at Hernandez's address at 400 First Avenue Apt. 24 in Coralville. There, according to a criminal complaint, they found seven bundles full of a substance that field tested as heroin. Authorities also said they found a baggie of marijuana.

Tommie Lee Alexander, 51, of 2600 Block of Whispering Prarie Avenue, Iowa City was charged with domestic abuse assault and assault for an offense that allegedly occurred on September 1 at 6:23 p.m. Police say they were called to a report of a man threatening a female at the above address and that the fight had escalated to involving a baseball bat. An officer who responded to find Alexander walking away, he was upset and sweating profusely with a bite mark under his eye. Police say Alexander said he had grabbed the bat after the adult daughter of his common law wife, who he had been arguing with, jumped on him and bit him. His common law wife, who is pregnant, and other witnesses also said Alexander had knives on his person and that he threatened to cut the baby out of the pregnant woman's stomach. Alexander denied saying this. The woman received some bruising and scratches due to the argument and felt faint and was shaken up.
