Iowa City Police Blotter: June 28-July 5

The following arrest information was supplied by the Iowa City Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

Eric Ray Parker, 27, of Taylor Drive, is charged with third-offense domestic abuse assault, a felony, for a multiple alcohol violation, an aggravated misdemeanor, for an offense that allegedly occurred on July 1 at 2:01 a.m. Police say officers responded to a call of a domestic dispute. After police investigated, they found that Parker had gotten into an argument with the mother of his child and place her in a headlock, putting his hands on her throat and squeezing. He then later took their child to another location and returned to put her into a headlock again after another argument. Police later found Parker intoxicated and yelling at them and while hanging out the window of a green Honda Accord. He had two previous domestic assault convictions on Nov. 10, 2009 and May 26, 2010.

Rena Kelley, 46, 808 E. Bloomington St., Iowa City, was charged with four counts of improper possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor, as well as one account of second-offense possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor, for an offense that allegedly occurred on July 1, at 4:03 p.m. Police say that after a traffic stop, Kelley, who was in the passenger seat, attempted to hide something under her seat. When police found her purse, they say it contained methamphetamine in aluminum foil packets, foils containing burnt meth, hollow pens used to smoke meth and numerous prescription pills obtained without a prescription. The driver, Edward Neuzil, also had meth in his possession.

Nancy Lou Skay, 50, of Las Vegas, NV is charged with first-degree theft, a felony, for offenses that allegedly occurred between the dates of January 2008 and January 2009. Police say Skay managed rental properties for another person and stole $43,366.35 from damage deposits she was in charge of. Police say Skay claimed that a hacker had stolen the money from the account, but they said there is no evidence of a breach, and that instead Skay was using her other bank accounts to access the money. They are also charging her for an additional $8,175.05 in rental deposits she failed to turn over to her employer. 

Charrell Martell Williams, 27, of Finkbine Drive, Iowa City was charged with assault causing injury and domestic abuse assault without intent causing injury (both serious misdemeanors) for an offense that allegedly occurred on September 24, 2010 on Riverside Drive. Police say Williams assaulted the mother of his child at the Riverside Drive location, hitting her several times in the face and also assaulted another man who came to her defense. Williams also violated a protective order issued toward him from the victim from the previous year.

Lawrence Curtis Glover, 28, of address unknown, was charged with third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of a firearm by a felon, a felony, for offense that allegedly occured on October 21, 2009 at 590 Foster Road. Police say that at 10:03 p.m. officers were dispatched regarding a home invasion style robbery at the Foster Road address where a handgun was displayed and a laptop was taken by the perpretrator. An officer later saw a suspicious vehicle at the 1000 BLOCK of Crosspark Road, noticing Glover who fled from the scene. The stolen laptop and a .45 caliber handgun were found in the vehicle. Glover was at that time already a convicted felon in the state of Illinois.

Taylor Andrew Sorenson, 20, of Iowa City, on June 29, at 1:49 a.m. at the intersection of Clinton and Burlington Streets.

Brent William Bauer, 26, of Marion, on June 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the mile marker 92 of Highway 218.

Kiarah M. Bennett, 19, of Iowa City, on June 30, at 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Russell Drive and Burns Avenue. 

Carlos Ariel Gomez Garcia, 19, of West Liberty, on July 2, at 6:39 p.m. at the 4900 BLOCK of Highway 6. 

Marie J Papineschi, 28, of Iowa City, on July 2, at 11:49 p.m. at the intersection of Muscatine Avenue and Dearborn Street.

Brian Anthony Wagner, 25, of Iowa City, on July 2, at 11:39 p.m. at the intersection of First and Muscatine Avenues. 

Sean Vencil Towley, 28, of Iowa City, on July 3, at 4:13 p.m. at 812 S. First Ave. Second offense. 

Carlos Raul Navarro, 23, of Iowa City, on July 4, at 12:07 a.m. at the intersection of Boyrum Street and Southgate Avenue.

David Carlos Ostrem, 22, of Iowa City, on July 4, at 2:28 a.m. at the intersection of Muscatine Avenue and Court Street.

Benjamin J Kaplan, 24, of Cedar Rapids, on July 4, at 2:42 a.m. at the 400 BLOCK of Van Buren Street.

Calvin Mario Martell Porterfield, 33, of Iowa City, on July 4, at 5:45 p.m. at 2400 Bartelt Road.
