Iowa City Police Blotter: June 16

Operating While Intoxicated Offenses

Mark Baez, 29, of Iowa City, on June 14 at 2:32 a.m. at the intersection of College and Gilbert Streets. Second offense.

Old Offenses

Cortez Andrew Seals, 22, address unknown, was charged with domestic assault without intent to cause injury, a serious misdemeanor, for an offense that allegedly occurred on March 10 at 1:45 p.m. Police say they responded to a fight at the 2400 Block of Aster Avenue. When the arrived, police spoke with a woman on scene who said she was the mother of Seals' two-year-old son. She said the fight between her and Seals started after a dispute between the two over who would care for the child. The woman said she Seals' car keys away from him and refused to give them back until he would agree to take care of his son. Seals chased after the woman into her house, pushed her over, and put her head into a vice grip betwen his knees while he took his keys out of her pocket. He then left. The woman had no visible injuries, according to the criminal complaint, but she compained of neck pain.
