Iowa City Police Arrest Blotter September 23: Intoxicated Man Allegedly Kicks Police Officer

James Edward Dale Crawford, 26, of Burlington, was charged with public intoxication, interference with official acts and two counts of assaulting a police officer for an offense that allegedly occurred on Sept. 23 at 2:26 a.m. Police say they found Crawford lying in the street intoxicated at 600 Bowery Street. Police told Crawford to stand up, and at that point they said he became uncooperative, kicking out and spitting at them as they attempted to put handcuffs on him. Crawford allegedly connected with one of his kicks, knocking an officer back to the ground and causing a minor injury to his or her elbow.
