Iowa City Police: Armed Robbery Reported on Gilbert Street

A delivery driver reported being armed by two men, one of them armed with a weapon, on Saturday night.


The Iowa City Police Department is looking for more information about a pair of men who reportedly robbed a woman on North Gilbert Street Saturday night.

According to an Iowa City media release, officers responded to the 400 block of North Gilbert Street at 10:16 p.m. Saturday night for the report of an armed robbery.

A woman their told officers that she had just made a delivery in the area and was returning to her vehicle when she was approached by two men. One of the men displayed a weapon and told her to give them her money.

The woman complied, and the suspects were last seen riding bikes westbound through a nearby alley. The woman was not injured during the incident.

The suspects described the suspects to police as two tall black males in their early twenties. One of the men was reportedly wearing a gray sweatshirt, and the other was wearing dark clothing.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of these men. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential and the caller's identity does not need to revealed to acccept the reward.
