Iowa City Police Are Looking for Suspect in Muscatine Avenue Armed Robbery

The robbery involving a man and a handgun reportedly happened Tuesday evening.


Iowa City Police are looking for more information about an armed robbery that reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening.

According to an Iowa City Police media release, at 9:39 p.m. last night police officers responded to On the Go BP at 2315 Muscatine Avenue for the report of an armed robbery.

After further investigation it was determined that a male suspect had entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The man then fled with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen to the east of the business.

The suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 5'5" in height, wearing a red jacket or hoodie, black jeans, and a blue checkered shirt. No one was harmed during the incident according to the report.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential and the identity of the caller does not need to revealed to collect a reward.
