An Iowa City man was charged with harassment after his repeated to attempts to contact his former girlfriend allegedly took an ugly turn.

Nathaniel Scott Harris, 26, of Iowa City, was charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, after he allegedly threatened his former girlfriend after she refused to speak with him.

The woman contaced police on March 11 with a harassment report. She told police that Harris had contacted her nonstop for three days, sending her texts and leaving voice mails and waiting outside a bar to speak with her even after she told him to leave her alone. Progressively, these texts eventually turned more menacing, as Harris allegedly left both texts and voice mail messages saying that he would kill her.

The officer listened to one complaint left three days prior to her reporting the harassment. According to the complaint, it read like this:

"...(If you don't talk to me), this is going to get ugly. I'm gonna loosen the lug-nuts on your car, and I swear to God you will die."

Police said that Harris admitted to leaving the texts and voice mails after his arrest.
