Iowa City Man Accused of First-Degree Burglary Following Alleged Home Assault

The 38-year-old man who was charged was the only one among a group of assailants that the victim reportedly could identify.

Police have charged a 38-year-old Iowa City man in the early September assault of a victim at his residence.

Andy Anderson, of 434 Peterson St., was charged with first-degree burglary, a felony, for the incident that allegedly occurred on Sept. 13 at 1100 Arthur Street.

Police say at 12:34 p.m. on the above date, Anderson knocked on the victim's door. When the victim answered it, Anderson attacked the victim with the help of several accomplices. The man was hit in his eye with an unknown object causing damage that required surgery to repair.

The man told police that he had fought with Anderson before, so he was able to positively identify him at the scene. The man told police he did not know the identity of any of the other accomplices who took part in the assault.

Anderson allegedly admitted to police that he had assaulted the man, but would not identify the other people who were reportedly at the scene.
