Update: Cause of Wednesday Night Apartment Fire Determined to be Accidental, Says Iowa City Fire Department
No injuries are reported in the late Wednesday night fire
Update: 3:20 p.m. According to a release from the Iowa City Fire Department, the cause of last night's fire at 2401 Highway 6 was determined to be accidental. The fire department states that investigators believe the fire was caused by unattended cooking that spread from out-of-control cooking oil to nearby combustible materials.
Two Saved During Wednesday Night Fire
Iowa City firefighters rescued two residents on the second floor of an apartment building that was on fire Wednesday night.

Firefighters received a call at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday about a structure fire at Dolphin Lake Point Enclave, 2401 Highway 6, according to the Iowa City Fire Department. Engine 3 responded to the scene of the fire and saw two people in a second-floor window.
Firefighters used a ladder to reach the two individuals and brought them to safety. A third occupant escaped the building without help from firefighters. No injuries from the fire were reported.

Other firefighter units arrived on scene and the fire was beaten back to its room of origin and extinguished within a half hour, according to the fire department.
A total of 13 firefighters responded on three engines, one ladder truck and one command vehicle. The firefighters were also supported by the Johnson County Ambulance Service, the Iowa City Police Department and the American Red Cross.
The fire department is still investigating the origin of the fire, officials say. They estimate the damage at $10,000.
