Iowa City Armed Robbery Reported at Mormon Trek Bank

The robbery reportedly took place at 5:22 p.m. Friday evening. Although the robber displayed a handgun, nobody was hurt in the incident.

An armed robbery was reported Friday evening at the U.S. Bank at 2312 Mormon Trek Boulevard.

According to a police press release, at 5:22 p.m. the Iowa City Police Department was called to the bank for the report of an armed robbery. The male suspect reportedly brandished a handgun and made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.

The police reported checking the scene for the suspect but he was not discovered. No injuries to bank employees or customers were reported from the incident.

The man is described as a white male 5 foot 8 inches to 6 feet in height with a medium build.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect, and anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).
