Iowa City Police: Fleeing Man Jumps From Second Floor of Parking Garage; Lives

Officers say man jumped from 2nd floor and was taken to the hospital.

Iowa City police say a man fled from parking garage employees and jumped from the second floor to try to get away.

Andrew Townsend, 25, of Atalissa, is charged with public intoxication following the alleged incident this past March.

Reports say Townsend was caught urinating in the Clock Tower Parking Ramp on Iowa Avenue. When employees tried to approach him, Townsend allegedly ran away from them and jumped off the second floor of the ramp.

Officers and medical staff were called to the scene and Townsend reportedly had a BAC of .164. Officials say Townsend was transported to for treatment.
