Hawk Alert Issued for Armed Robbery On Samoa Drive

The University of Iowa Hawk alert has been issued for an armed robbery near campus.

Update: An update on the robbery from Iowa City Police

The University of Iowa has issued a Hawk Alert to students and faculty for an armed robbery that was reported this evening.

The alert describes an armed robbery occurred 10:05 p.m in an area off of Melrose Avenue on Samoa Drive. The suspect, described as a skinny black male in his middle twenties, reportedly displayed a handgun during the robber before fleeing on foot. 

This is not too far from an armed robbery of a taxi cab driver that took place on Petsel Place on Friday night.
