Four Injured in Semi Versus Car Accident on Interstate 80 in Johnson County

The collision Friday evening on Interstate 80 in Johnson County caused the vehicle to spin out into the median.

Four people were injured and taken to Iowa City hospitals for treatment after a collision with a semi caused a vehicle to spin out and head into the median at the 248 mile-marker on Interstate 80 in Johnson County.

According to an Iowa State Patrol Crash Report, at 5:52 p.m. a Chevy Malibu heading east on Interstate 80 driven by Tanika Ann Phelps, 27, of Cedar Rapids, merged from the left lane into the middle lane where the interstate changes from a three lane into a two lane. However, the middle lane at the time was occupied by a semi driven by David Delzer, 60, of Wiconto Falls, Wis.

The resulting collision caused the Malibu to spin out of control into the median, according to the report.
