Iowa City Police Investigating Cambus Accident

Iowa City police are investigating the accident, which reportedly occurred on Madison Street at about 10 a.m. this morning.

The Iowa City Police Department has issued a statement that they are investigating the bus versus pedestrian accident this morning near the University of Iowa Main Library.

In the statement, police say they received a call at 10:09 a.m. about a a crash involving a Cambus and a female pedestrian at the 200 BLOCK of Madison Street.

Police after further investigation by the police department, it was determined that the pedestrian, a 20-year-old woman, had walked onto crosswalk on Madison Street when she was hit by the bus traveling southbound.

The woman who had sustained "significant injuries" was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance Service to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The bus was carrying passengers and there were no other injuries reported, police said.

Police said that the woman is receiving treatment and there is no update on her injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the police department.

Witnesses on scene say the subject was a female. She apparently hit and cracked the windshield and then went under the bus.
