Update: 4-Hour Standoff Ends in Arrest of Man Sought After Thursday Breckenridge Shooting; Authorities ID Man Killed

Authorities discussed last night's officer-involved shooting at a trailer court outside of Iowa City, during a news conference today. Officials identified the man who died and another injured, but little other information.

A four-hour standoff on the west side of Iowa City on Friday afternoon ended in the capture of a man police sought following an undercover drug operation that left one man dead and another injured on Thursday.

Police cleared an apartment building at 1305 Sunset St. at about 3:15 p.m. on Friday, believing John Mulbah to be inside. At around 7:15 p.m., police fired tear gas into the building, and shortly thereafter captured Mulbah, multiple news outlets are reporting.

Mulbah was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance. He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond according to a Department of Public Safety press release.

Police had been seeking Mulbah in connection with what police are calling an officer-involved shooting on Thursday evening. Police are still looking for another person stemming from the shooting, Norman Dudley, who remains at large.

A complete picture of what happened at the Trailer Court, 4494 Taft Ave., on Thursday night, where one man was shot and another man injured during an undercover drug operation, will have to wait for another day.

During a news conference today, authorities identified four men involved in what is being called an officer-involved shooting, including one man who died, one man who was injured and two men they are currently seeking. However, they were mum on many of the pertinent details as their drug and shooting investigations continue.

Officials identified Ivan Carl Hardemon, 24, as the man who died. An autopsy is currently being conducted by the Assistant State Medical Examiner, but the exact cause of Hardemon's death is expected to be caused by a gunshot wound.

The injured man is DeMarco Dudley, according to officials. They said is in the hospital, but expected to live.

According to a Department of Public Safety release, Dudley was able to escape authorities and was dropped off at the entrance of the Bon Aire Mobile Home Park in Iowa City. It is believed that Norman Dudley dropped off his brother while driving a red Buick LeSabre, Iowa license plate 272ZRY. This vehicle was found abandoned on Regal Lane near the corner of Lakeside Drive in Iowa City.

Two state drug enforcement officials, who were involved in the shooting, were unharmed but have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation into the incident continues as is standard procedure, officials said. Local and state law enforcement officials are also still pursuing two other men allegedly present at the shooting or in vicinity during in the incident -- Norman Dudley and .

Anyone with information about the shooting or with whereabouts of Norman Dudley and Mulbah is advised to call the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center at 319-358-6800. Iowa City Area Crimestoppers is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that will lead to the arrest of Dudley and Mulbah. To collect this reward, tipsters should call 358-TIPS (8477). The identity of the tipster does not need to be revealed to collect the reward.

Criminal investigators continue to process the scene of the crime in and around Breckenridge Trailer Court. More updates will come from the Department of Public Safety as the investigation continues.
