Armed Robbery of Pedestrian Reported Near Gasby's at Intersection of First and Muscatine Avenues

The robbery of someone out walking near the gas station reportedly occurred at 1:32 a.m. this morning.


Iowa City Police are looking for more information on suspects in another armed robbery, this one near Gasby's convenience store on Monday morning.

According an Iowa City Police media release, officers responded to Gasby's at 1:32 a.m. this morning for the report of an armed robbery. There they met caller, who told them that he or she had been robbed by two men at the 2600 block of Muscatine Avenue while out walking on the side walk. The victim reported seeing a black handgun on one of the men but was uninjured during the incident.

The victim described one of the two men as being a white male who was wearing a gray and white hooded sweatshirt and had a thin beard. The second man was a black man wearing a green hoodie. The victim reported that the two men were young, between 18-24 years of age, and were of average height and weight.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential, and the identity of the caller does not need to be revealed to collect a reward.
