OBITUARY: Michael "Mike" A. Logan

Michael A. “Mike” Logan, 80, formerly of Coralville, died Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014 at Legacy Gardens in Iowa City. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church in North Liberty with Pastor Brooks Simpson officiating. Burial will follow be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be Friday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. 

Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to The Gideons Memorial Bible Program or a charity of one’s choice.

Mike was born February 19, 1933 in Creston, Iowa, the son of Jack and May (Coulter) Logan.Growing up and graduating from high school in Waterloo, Mike received both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Iowa. Mike served in the United States Air Force as a 1st Lt. during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Johnson September 17, 1957 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mike devoted much of his free time to the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of his service, the Boy Scouts awarded him the highest honor a volunteer could receive -- The Silver Beaver Award. 

Survivors include his wife Sarah; sons, Mark (Kim) Logan of Springfield, Missouri and their children, Jessica (Nathan) Bolerjack, Emily Logan, Daniel Logan and Hannah Logan; and Brad (Krista) Logan of Coralville and their children, McKenzie Logan, Carson Logan and Quinton Logan; and two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Riley.

His parents and a brother Jack died before him.
