Do Iowa's School Districts Need Consultants?

The Iowa City Community School District is looking for a consultant -- or consultants -- again. And what do they want these consultants to do? Why does the board think it needs them?

The superintendent says, "As we go through the process of doing facilities planning . . . there is some data we need. We need to know how many kids we have . . .."

This is not calculus, folks. It's not even trigonometry. It's elementary school math. Isn't this kind of data gathering why we're paying superintendents the big bucks?
