A little holiday cheer can go a long way!

Trying to sell an empty house this holiday season? A little cheer can go a long way!

It's the holidays and people aren't just shopping for presents! There are still a number of house buyers out there--whether they're looking to buy yet this winter or getting an idea as to what's out there before spring hits... we've had great traffic at our open houses this past month!

One thing we try to do is keep our houses appropriately staged for the current season. While it may be depleting our own holiday decorations--we made an effort to spread some cheer to all of our houses, since we plan to show them throughout the holiday season.  And yes, it's also a good place for me to use the decorations I just don't know what to do with! The added festivity can help a buyer envision how they could celebrate the holidays in that space. If you're looking for places to gain ideas, check out Pinterest--an online pinning board that allows you to organize ideas you love, for the home or for your life! It's a great place to get fantastic holiday decorating ideas.

I'm also an advocate for treats at open houses. What could be better than walking into an open house on a cold, snowy, winter day and smelling fresh baked cookies and hot cider? It turns a regular open house into a holiday open house. Don't make it hard on yourself--just grab some frozen cookie dough at the store and a jug of cider.  The treats are a great way to encourage people to linger a bit, which is what you want!
