"My Presence Is Charity Enough; Obama's Presence Is Enough, Whether He Does Anything or Not. He Provides Hope." Say WHAT?!
Who knew that Jay-Z and Harry Belafonte were feuding? For the record, apparently Harry Belafonte started it. He commented on two celebrities, Jay-Z and Beyonce, who lack social responsibility.
Jay-Z responded, "My presence is charity enough. Obama's presence is enough, whether he does anything or not. He provides hope." I think I got that quotation right. Damn, if that's not it, it's real close. (I heard the story on National Public Radio.)
When Harry Belafonte speaks and says he's open to a dialogue with Jay-Z and Beyonce, his voice doesn't sound good. I don't know why it's so thin and reedy, and I worry. I mean, "Day O," the banana boat song, is one of my favorites. He sang it with so much feeling. I was eight years old when that song came out.
And I remember how Jay-Z and Beyonce took an entire hospital floor when their baby was born, and other new parents couldn't have relatives visit them and their new babies because Jay-Z and Beyonce took up so much space at that hospital. Maybe it was a security issue, but it seemed so selfish at the time.
