Isaiah Newkirk, Professional Bicycle Racer, Read "The Secret Race" over Breakfast

I talked to a nice young man who was reading "The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs," by Tyler Hamilton and Daniel Coyle over breakfast in Perry. When he said he races for a living and had raced against Lance Armstrong, I understood why he looked so fit and so thin, despite his enormous breakfast. He wasn't even riding. He was sagging to let some friends ride.

Isaiah Newkirk is from Bloomingon, Indiana but originally from New Mexico. I asked him if he was part native American. I could see it in his nose, which reminded me of other native American noses I've seen. He said yes, but he doesn't know which tribe. He's also Scottish, hence the name Newkirk. Kirk means church in general or can refer to the Church of Scotland in particular. Many place names and personal names are derived from it.

Isn't Isaiah a good-looking, healthy young man? I wished him luck in his racing career.
