Are You Beginning to Feel Like the Two Presidential Campaigns are Stalking You? I Do.

I'm beginning to feel like I'm being stalked by local Democratic volunteers for Obama and more recently, the Republican National Committee by robo-calls (guess they don't have volunteers).

Are you beginning to feel like the two presidential campaigns are stalking you? Within the past week, not only is the Democratic National Campaign continuing to stalk me, but the Republican National Committee has begun stalking me with robocalls.

I don't know how many times my husband and I have answered robo-surveys and talked to real live Obama volunteers to tell them we are planning to vote for Obama and other Democrats, like Congressman Dave Loebsack. We have never varied in our responses, yet we're still considered fair game because we haven't voted yet.

Are we really fair game? Is it ethical or even productive to bother people as much as we're being bothered now? Is it right that we're essentially being bullied into voting early? I'm not going to succumb. I don't want departing Johnson County Auditor Tom Slockett to be alone with my ballot any longer than absolutely necessary. My hope is that Johnson County Supervisors and proactive Auditor's office employees won't let Tom Slockett be alone with anyone's ballot. After all, the name of his opponent is on that ballot and his name is Travis Weipert.

A sympathetic Obama volunteer made me feel better about how cranky I'm beginning to feel about getting knocks on my front door and countless phone calls, both real and robo-dialed. She feels the same way when she goes home and gets the same calls that I do. I'm glad she called. Well intentioned volunteers sure beat the robocalls I get from the RNC. One of them gave me false information about where to vote. Later, the RNC gave me correct information about where to vote. I know where to vote. But if I didn't know where to vote, the RNC's first call would have been a misdirection.
