Dvorsky, who said he was the first state senator in Iowa to endorse Obama before the 2008 election, said winning Iowa will be essential for the president to reach the 270-electoral-vote threshold needed to secure a second term.

“There’s really not any scenario going to 270 without Iowa included, so you’re going to see the biggest grassroots effort for a presidential race ever in Iowa this year,” Dvorsky said.
