Congrats to the Iowa City Press-Citizen and the Gazette for their Associated Press Media Editors news awards. Boo to the APME for making their results too hard to find. Google is your friend Associated Press! Oh wait, it totally isn't.

Vanessa Miller of the Gazette writes that Thursday's suspected armed robber on the University of Iowa campus remains at large.

Miller also writes that a local Planned Parenthood branch reacted favorably to a foundation's decision to reverse an earlier decision to cut funding to the women's health organization based on conflicted views on abortion.

Mark Carlson with KCRG writes that West High School is looking at more early bird classes to address overcrowding at the school.

In yesterday's links, I posted a link stating that serious motor accidents improved last year. Well, that good news lasted a whole day, as January saw more fatal accidents than usual.

Iowa City Daily Links Excerpt of the Day

Staging fewer than half as many shows and hosting smaller productions in venues that seat far fewer than the old 2,500-seat auditorium, Hancher’s gross ticket receipts reached a low point last season, its attendance was less than a quarter of what it was pre-flood, and its total revenue is about a third what it was four seasons ago — all anticipated consequences.

Now, with UI set to unveil plans for the new Hancher at a public presentation Tuesday, the question is, will Hancher patrons who have fallen out of the habit of attending shows return in 2015, when the new auditorium is expected to open?
