Brent Oleson, a delegate from Linn County, said he doesn’t think Romney has the rhetorical ability of President Barack Obama, “but his personal story and highlights of his past successes as a governor, businessman, husband and father really helped to reintroduce himself to Iowans and the American people.

“The one criticism I had,” Oleson said, “was his stand in the speech where he refused to consider cuts in the military. Fiscal conservatives need to look cuts in area of government.”

The Iowans gave a roar of approval when Romney said he would make North America energy independent by 2020, and again when he said he would “cut the deficit and put America on track to a balanced budget.”
