This Associated Press article mentions that the Iowa City School Board is addressing the community's busing concerns, but doesn't really explain how. This blog post by Adam Sullivan of the Iowa City Press-Citizen gets more specific, noting an upcoming meeting where the board is discussing the still-to-be approve diversity policy that was created with the aim of ameloriating wealth disparity in the district. [Update] Gregg Hennigan of the Gazette points out that the AP's story is actually a poor rewrite of this story in the Gazette.

School Board president Marla Swesey sent an email to other board members Tuesday morning to announce the meeting. Swesey said at least four board members are available to participate. Her email said the purpose of the meeting is to allow community members to ask questions and doesn’t mention a vote on the diversity policy, but at a committee meeting Monday, Swesey said she wanted to vote on a second reading of the policy this weekend.

“It is evident from all the emails that there are a lot of misconceptions out there that we could address,” Swesey wrote to School Board members Tuesday. “So with that said – I am calling a special board meeting for this coming Saturday … It is my understanding that at least 4 board members can come but I’d like everyone to be there if at all possible.”
