Iowa City Police Detonate Suspicious Package at Art Festival

On June 9, 2013 the Iowa City Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package near the intersection of Dubuque St and Washington St. The area was cordoned off and the Johnson County Metro Bomb was contacted.

Using a remote control robot the Bomb team attempted to secure evidence from the package and identify the contents. The suspicious package was destroyed using a water cannon. 

This incident remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department. 

Thanks to the Coralville Police, Johnson County Sheriff's Dept, University of Iowa Police and to the Johnson County Emergency Management.
