Three recent incidents in Iowa City involving the suspected sale and use of synthetic drugs have police on alert. Last week, a joint task force in Johnson County seized various substances from the In-Zone in downtown Iowa City. The substances are believe to be "bath salts," an illegal synthetic drug.

"You've got people who manufacture these (substances) trying to scoot around the law putting different products in it, who knows what you're putting in your body," said Iowa City police sergeant Denise Brotherton.
