More than 50 people visited the Iowa City Downtown District office to not only meet Bird — who started work Monday — and tour the newly acquired office and meeting space, but also take part in a dialogue with the district’s 19-member board.

Plans for the future include a social media, online and word-of-mouth marketing campaign in not only the Iowa City area but also neighboring communities such as Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities.
