Hundreds lined up early in the morning at the IMU early to secure tickets to Obama’s Friday speech in Iowa City, where he will be joined by wife Michelle, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill on the University of Iowa’s Pentacrest.

The visit, marking the president’s eighth stop in this battleground state this year, will come the day after Obama delivers his address at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance,” said University of Iowa senior Chris Engels, 21, who was in line for a ticket after having seen Obama on his previous visit to Iowa City in April. “Well, twice in a year.”
