Iowa City Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor Memory of September 11 Victims

The tragedy, already 11 years old, still has left an indelible mark on the country. Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered the victims of this tragedy be remembered with flags at half-staff at public buildings all over the state.

If you are driving around today in Iowa City and see flags at half-staff at a local school or the post office, take a moment to remember some of the victims of a tragic event that happened eleven years ago.

Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered that all flags at public buildings statewide should be flown half-staff to honor the victims of the September 11th attack on New York's twin towers.

The honor will continue from between 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The state Capitol building and flag displays in the Capitol complex will be at half-staff, and this will be true also for all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state.
