Being Love

As we move into this new month, we move toward colder temperatures and ill-tempered weather. With these new changes, we change.

Along with the sudden inspiration to bake cookies or make soup, the emergence of fall weather creates an internal shift in many of us that allows a new found desire to take place:  a desire to create inward, rather than outward, and to become something bigger than we were the year before.

As we move into a new month, we move toward colder temperatures and ill-tempered weather.  With these new changes, we change.  Our normal self-care routines shift a little. We might exercise less, and eat more.  It’s possible we’ll forgo our daily walk, or think twice before going on a bike ride, or to the park to socialize with friends.  In the upcoming months there might be days where, when we leave the house it is dark outside, and when we come home the same is true.  In this absence of light, how do we remember to shine?

In the plant world, the magic of spring lies in “the spring has sprung” aspect of seedlings pushing through what was once their home…emerging from their shell…and birthing themselves from the underground, to the light of this world.  And so, if spring is about coming out of your shell, perhaps fall could be about coming into your shell.  When you come into your shell, so to speak, you come into immediate contact with the wholeness of who you are.  In this merging of the outside you, with the inside you, the blend becomes a fertile ground which will grow all sorts of miracles if you will allow it!   Sometimes coming into the light requires realizing the darkness is what gave birth to it.

At Creative Transformations, our last newsletter was focused on self-care and the many ways in which many of us take time to ourselves.  This month we are taking the idea of self-care one step closer to the heart.  We are moving from what are you doing tocare for yourself, to what are you doing to love yourself.

So, with that in mind what are you doing to love yourself?  Together we’ve had one month to think about and fine-tune our ideas of self-care.  The seed has been planted and hopefully you’ve tended the seedling, and as you look at what you’ve grown it’s time to find out whether you’re ready to transplant your new found growth from its birthing place, to the center of your heart.

We know that, in order to love ourselves, we must come into close contact with that which we are.  Once we have created the space to do so (through our new found routine of self-care) our primary “job” is to set up the space to love unconditionally, fiercely, and without self-judgment.  What we are suggesting is that you treat yourself as you would a cherished friend before a fire in cold cabin.  Hold yourself dear, and close.  Give yourself the grace and uplifting talk you would offer a loved one in need.
