Examples of such components include public seating; district lighting; auto, bus, bicycle and pedestrian transportation accommodations; trees and plantings; special event accommodations; signage and other important public elements that help define downtown Iowa City.

This information gathering meeting is the first of three public input meetings for the project that will take place throughout 2013 and will be led by the consultant team of Genus Landscape Architects of Des Moines and studioINSITE of Denver, Colorado. Following a brief presentation by the planning team, participants will be asked about the features that make downtown Iowa City special and how downtown can be strengthened to meet the evolving social, cultural and commercial needs of the community.

Interested persons can also learn about the project, provide feedback and stay engaged throughout the development of the new plan via the project website,www.inspiredowntownic.com. The website will officially launch the morning of June 25.
