Scattergood Friends School (www.scattergood.org) Iowa's only college preparatory boarding school!) is preparing to celebrate its 125th anniversary and there are multiple mile-markers in store for the Director of Communication and Giving!  As we embark on our next capital campaign, this unique Quaker school and organic farm prepares to advance the school’s dynamic vision for the next 125 years. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Communications and Giving will create, promote and manage key events and programs, develop communications plans and serve as a fundamental driving force to connect alumni in the lead up to Scattergood's 125th Anniversary.  The Director will work in tandem with the Capital Campaign Steering Committee and the Head of School.   
The Director of Communications and Giving will tell our school's story to existing Friends and alumni and reach out to new audiences by developing and producing creative publications and fundraising materials, including new media, photo, and video work. This includes copywriting, e-newsletters, social media, website and alumni web portal management. The Director will manage and facilitate all facets of our Annual Giving program, implement direct mail strategies, manage volunteers, and conduct solicitations for annual giving prospects in tandem with the Head of School. The Director will expand the Friends for Life (Bequest) program and continue working  with the School Foundation, which oversees a $4.2 million endowment. Qualified Candidates Will Have

  • A minimum two years of annual giving experience
  • Ability to work well in collaboration with a variety of individuals
  • An understanding of annual giving strategies, demonstrated success in soliciting prospects and donors, and experience with volunteer management
  • Strong writing and story-telling skills
  • Comfort with basic website content management, social media and donor database systems
  • Experience producing digital and print fundraising materials and other publications
  • Strong and detail-oriented organizational skills 
 Required EducationBachelor's degree in communications, marketing or other relevant field, or commensurate experience
