Dish Network Subscribers May Miss Iowa-Iowa State Game; Here are Some Places to Watch in Iowa City

It's not clear if Dish Network will carry the in-state rivalry football game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones, but we have some suggestions of where to watch.

Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones will face each other for the 36th time since the annual state football game series resumed in the 1970s.

If you don't already have a ticket, you're probably out of luck. The 2:42 p.m. game is at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The 70,585-seat stadium has already sold out.

The game is on the Big Ten Network, which may leave Dish Network subscribers out of luck. The Dish Network and Big Ten Network are in a contract dispute. The sides agreed to a short-term deal last week, which covered the opening weekend of college football, and it is not clear if the deal extends to this weekend or beyond.

Some Dish Network television guides show the Iowa-Iowa State game still on the schedule, but a spokesman declined to confirm that the game will be aired on Dish Network.

KCRG is reporting that it is "likely" the game will not be carried on Dish Network.

Dish Network will drop BTN from its service after Friday unless a new deal is reached, according to Elizabeth Conlisk, BTN’s vice president of communications.

“Fans should start making other plans,” Conlisk said. “There will be no short-term arrangement this week.

Here is a less than clear Q and A with a Dish Network spokesman:

Patch: I noticed a short-term deal had been reached to continue airing Big Ten Channel games on Dish Network. How long does the agreement last? Will the Iowa-Iowa State game this weekend be aired on Dish Network?

Dish Network: I don't have an update for you. Big Ten Network and DISH have agreed to a short-term arrangement.  Discussions will continue towards a long-term agreement.
