From the Johnson County Sheriff

In accordance with Chapter 462A.12 (5), Code of Iowa, The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office through the Johnson County Emergency Operations Center has issued a prohibition operation order for the following areas; Iowa River, all creeks and streams and flooded areas that are South of or below the dam at the Coralville Reservoir.

This includes boating, canoeing, swimming, wading, or any other recreational use of the water in these areas.  This is for public safety and emergency response purposes. At this time it does not include the Coralville Lake, Lake MacBride, or the Cedar River as it did in the flood of 2008.

This is subject to change if conditions worsen. No resident will be allowed to operate a vessel and enter into areas in which are being impacted by a natural disaster unless authorized by the officer in charge of the search and rescue or disaster operation.
