PHOTOS: Iowa City Pride Parade 2012

Iowa City's annual Pride events are part of National Gay and Lesbian Month celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals in the area.

The annual Iowa City Gay Pride parade made its way through downtown Iowa City in a jovial procession Saturday afternoon, despite the hot temperatures and high humidity. The weather did not deter the participants, as they danced and cheered from College Green Park, up Iowa Ave, and around past the Dubuque St entrance to the Pedestrian Mall. Hundreds of parade watchers lined the sidewalks, with people of all ages enjoying the spectacle and attempting to catch an abundance of candy being tossed their way. Notably, there were few, if none at all, protesters of the parade, compared to the number that have made an appearance at the event in the past.
