University of Iowa Museum of Art's First Friday: May

Celebrate the conclusion of Just Do(t) Art, a community art project at the University of Iowa Museum of Art’s (UIMA) May First Friday reception! For $5, watch the last dot be placed, and view the installation in its final form. Also enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drink specials at the Formosa bar, and live music by fantastic local musicians Alan Swanson, Alexis Stevens, Henry Finch, and Sean McGivern.

Be a part of Just Do(t) Art. This month-long, community-based collaborative art installation is open for public participation through May 4, 2012 at hotelVetro in downtown Iowa City. Art-lovers of all ages are invited to place colorful translucent stickers on several of the expansive glass windows in the hotelVetro lobby. With over 50,000 circular stickers available, this project will turn the hotelVetro windows into a one part mosaic, one part stained-glass, and one part abstract expressionist masterpiece.

Dots are available in the hotelVetro lobby free of charge through May 4, 2012. Bring your family and friends to become part of Iowa City’s most spot-tacular community art installation!
