Catch a Showing of "Office Space" Tonight at the City Park Riverside Festival Stage

Iowa City FilmScene's series of films continues with another outdoor movie showing.

Every good show deserves a sequel. Following the successful screening of The Blues Brothers, FilmScene Starlite Cinema presented by M.C. Ginsberg presents OFFICE SPACE, Mike Judge's cult comedy about life in a cubicle, this Friday, September 21, under the stars at the Riverside Festival Stage in Iowa City's City Park.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for pre-show entertainment inspired by the film, including "flair" contests and a printer smash followed by curated clips related to the film.

The movie starts at dusk. Tickets are $5, which includes the movie, pre-show music and free popcorn.

"Our first night was a tremendous success," said FilmScene co-founder Andrew Sherburne. "Office Space is another chance for everyone to come out and join the fun."

OFFICE SPACE is the second showing in the FilmScene Starlite Cinema presented by M.C. Ginsberg, and will be followed by Steven Spielberg's dazzling UFO film CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND on October 12; and Alfred Hitchcock's acclaimed thriller PSYCHO on October 19, which will also include a double feature of a classic horror film chosen by popular vote online.

The series features an expanded drink menu with soda plus wine, cider and craft beer offerings on tap from Schlafly Beer. In addition to popcorn and a selection of candy, moviegoers can also buy pizza slices from The Wedge Pizzeria.
Screenings will be projected via high-definition video on a 20-foot wide inflatable screen placed on stage, complimented by a booming 5.1 surround sound system for a truly cinematic presentation.

Moviegoers can recline in the venue's tiered seating so everyone will have a good, intimate view of the show.

"First-rate presentation is really important to the FilmScene experience," FilmScene co-founder Andy Brodie said.

"One of our Starlite slogans is 'Big Movies. Big Sound. Big Screen.' We think these screenings will be a real treat."

"Starlite is a one-of-a-kind moviegoing experience, and we're proud to bring it to Iowa City," said Sherburne. "It's the pure joy of the drive-in with a fun, grown-up twist."

Proceeds from FilmScene Starlite Cinema presented by M.C. Ginsberg will be put towards FilmScene's long-term goal of opening a full-time cinema in downtown Iowa City.
