City Media Release

In celebration of Iowa City's recent Blue Zones designation, the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center will present an evening of live blues music, featuring the Johnny Kilowatt Band and the Blue Midnight Trio, on Thursday, April 18 from 7 - 9:30 PM. Students from the University of Iowa's School of Journalism Event Planning Class have spent the semester working to make this a fun and enjoyable event for people of all ages. Please join students and seniors alike for this one of a kind event at The Center in downtown Iowa City. Admission is only $5/person, paid at the door.

As a Blue Zones Project demonstration site, Iowa City will receive assistance from experts to develop and implement a Blueprint for making permanent environmental, social, and policy changes that transition people into healthier behaviors that can lead to longer, happier lives. This initiative perfectly complements the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center's mission to promote optimal aging among older adults.
