VIDEO: Meet Gregory Peck, Iowa City Patch's Adopt this Pet of the Week (ADOPTED)

Each week Iowa City Patch features a different animal from the Iowa City Adoption Center that is in need of a good home. This week, we meet Gregory Peck, the Atticus Finch of parakeets.

This week, Willa Hamilton, Iowa City Animal Services Officer at the Iowa City Animal Shelter, introduces us to Gregory Peck, a young parakeet who was found outside on a cold day by a concerned citizen and turned over to the care of the shelter.

Hamilton says Mr. Peck is a very social bird who likes to be a part of the action. She said he will need to be hand trained -- in order to trust the owner enough to climb on his owner's hand -- before he can safely wonder around outside his cage in his new home.

For more information on adopting Gregory you can call the Animal Shelter at: (319) 356-5295. Or visit the shelter at 4852 Sand Rd SE.
