Out of the Darkness Walk on Sunday (Today) Will Pay Tribute to Those Lost to Suicide

Founded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the Iowa City Out of the Darkness Walk is sponsored by the Johnson County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

What:   The 4th Annual Iowa City Area Out of the Darkness Walk to remember individuals lost to suicide and raise funds for local suicide prevention efforts and support of suicide survivors.

Who:   140+ community members will walk a 5K route along the Iowa River in memory of a family member or friend lost to suicide.

When:  Sunday, September 15

5:00 pm   Registration and check-in opens, resource fair with local agencies

5:45 pm   Welcome and program, including a reading of names of individuals lost to suicide

6:00 pm   Walk begins

6:45 pm - 7:15 pm  Luminaries, refreshments & gathering time for participants post-walk.

Where:  The walk begins and ends at City Park Shelter #5, located in lower City Park.
