Iowa City Weather Alert: Flash Flood Warning

Iowa City is under a flash flood warning until 3:45 p.m. today, according to National Weather Service.

Slow moving thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are producing flash flooding south of Interstate 80 from Victor to West Liberty. 

One to two inches have already fallen, and another 1 to 2 inches could fall. 

Here's the forecast from National Weather Service:

  • Today: Occasional showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 83. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
