Iowa City Downtown District to Offer Holiday Events Friday and Saturday
The annual event features free parking, family events, and carriage rides.

The Iowa City Downtown District is bringing a little holiday cheer to Iowa City with the annual Celebrate the Season festivities, presented by Hills Bank and Trust. Events begin Downtown on Friday, November 30, 2012 with the merchant's SnowFlake Stroll from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Festivities continue Saturday, December 1st with a multitude of family friendly events, including:
• Free horse and carriage rides

• The magical arrival of Santa Claus and free family portraits
• Iowa Children's Museum activities

• Cookie decorating and gingerbread displays
• A public holiday glass blowing demonstration
• A celebration of film renditions of A Christmas Carol at the Iowa City Public Library
• 2 performances of The Nutcracker at the Englert
• And much, much more.
“We have a fantastic line up of holiday-themed events and in addition this year, we have a glass-blowing artist that will leave people talking. It’s impressive,” said Nancy Bird, Executive Director of the Iowa City Downtown District.
