Closures and Changes for University of Iowa Homecoming Parade: Parking Ramp and Bus Service

The University of Iowa Homecoming Parade is on Friday. Some changes will be in effect the entire day.

The University of Iowa Homecoming Parade through downtown Iowa City this Friday, September 28, will result in some operational and schedule changes to the Iowa City Transit system and the Tower Place Parking Ramp.

Changes to the Transit system are as follows:

• Starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, the main bus interchange located at Washington and Clinton Streets will move to a temporary location on Court Street, between Clinton and Dubuque Streets (adjacent to the U.S. Post Office and the Court Street Transportation Center). This change will be in effect all day. Normal bus service from the main Transit interchange will resume on Saturday, September 29.
• The last Northside Shuttle of the day will depart the alternate interchange on Court Street at 2:45 p.m.
• The last Southside Shuttle will depart the alternate interchange on Court Street at 3:30 p.m.
• The bus stops located at Washington and Linn Streets (stop 7200) and Washington and Gilbert Streets (stop 7201) will be closed to bus service for the entire day on Friday. Customers who use these stops should catch their buses at the alternate interchange on Court Street. These stops will reopen on Saturday, September 29.

Changes to the Tower Place Parking Ramp are as follows:

The Tower Place Parking Ramp on Iowa Avenue will temporarily close at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 28, and will remain closed until the end of the parade, when Iowa Avenue is reopened to regular traffic. Entry to and exit from the Tower Place Ramp will not be allowed during the parade. Parking customers should be out of the Tower Place Ramp by 5 p.m. or risk staying until the parade is over.

The Capitol Street, Dubuque Street, Chauncey Swan, and Court Street parking ramps will be open and will operate normally during the parade. Customers who need an alternative parking option to the Tower Place Ramp during the parade should utilize one of these facilities.
