Wage: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications

Under limited direction, is responsible for the operations and accounting of post-award grant administration and related special projects; serves as contact for grants and contract accounting functions for special projects. Performs grant and project-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, financial reporting, and reconciliations. Performs grant/project closeout functions, financial status reports, and final reporting; reviews general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and completes journal entries. Ensures expenses are complete and in compliance with applicable regulations; maintains regular communications with other City departments; communicates with funding agency contacts for problem resolution and information gathering. Assists in coordination and preparation of the federal single audit for the comprehensive annual financial report for audit. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum education, experience and certification

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body and two years of grant or project accounting experience are required. Must pass background check. Three years of experience in financial analysis preferred. Certified Public Accountant preferred.

 

City of Iowa City application must be received by 5PM, Thursday, June 26, 2014, in Human Resources, 410 E. Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. Applications available in the Human Resources Office and at www.icgov.org.
