Axles and Aperture: Roller Derby Photography
Englert Civic Theatre, 221 E Washington St, Iowa City, IA | Get Directions »
FREE
Roller Derby is a unique sport that has exploded across the globe due to the efforts of many amazing volunteers. One of the highly under-appreciated persons dedicated to this sport are the photographers who donate their time and photos for these leagues. Due to roller derby's hands on, grassroot nature, these photos are often the visual support for promotion of the leagues. This exhibit is to not only highlight the sport and amazing athletes, but the photographers as well.
The exhibit will run from January 11th to February 12th at The Douglas and Linda Paul Gallery inside the Englert Theater in downtown Iowa City. The reception will be on Friday, January 18th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm with a cash bar and snacks. The local derby team, the Old Capitol City Roller Girls will be there to usher the event. 28 photos from 10 different photographers will be on view with some being available for purchase.
Come celebrate these amazing photograhers!
