Asklof said he hopes the Downtown Nodo location will open by August with much of the same menu that has garnered fans for the North Dodge location.
Nodo owner Bryan Asklof says that the new downtown location, slated to replace the departing Pizza on Dubuque, will feature more of the same formula that has made Nodo a steady success despite being attached to an Ace Hardware location a long walk away from downtown. More, as in more footspace, longer hours, and over twice as many seats for diners. The same, as in the same menu (with a potential for a few additional tweaks) of coffee, cookies, and above all, wraps and sandwiches that have made Nodo a repeat destination for fans. Asklof said he isn't worried about the downtown location taking away from his fellowing on the northside. In fact, the location next to Ace will remain open with its current configuration, with a full time …

New Pioneer Co-Op leaders are looking for a third location in Marion, Cedar Rapids and North Liberty, and calls finding a site to relocate downtown "remote at best."
Supporters of downtown Iowa City's iconic but floody weary natural food cooperative are reassessing options for where to build, and that may not include the downtown area its called home for 43 years. Leadership of the New Pioneer Co-Op have been looking for a new location, but were left out of a preferred plot a few blocks away in favor of a high rise with a movie theater and bowling alley. The current downtown building at 22 S. Van Buren St. is said to be under-sized and susceptible to flooding. The Co-Op has its sites on opening a third location - it's been in Coralville for 12 years - in possibly North Liberty, Marion, Cedar Rapids or elsewhere in Iowa City. While the board isn't giving up on relocating downtown and will continue …

Pizza on Dubuque is on the move after 13 years on Dubuque Street, and Nodo sandwich shop will open shop in that location.
An Iowa City pizza shop is on the move after 13 years on Dubuque Street. Pizza on Dubuque is moving to 213 Iowa Avenue next to the Blue Moose Tap House. The plan is to open under the name Pizza Pod, tentatively in early June, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports. Owner Al Risk told the Daily Iowan the recession and the 21-only ordinance, which had the effect of shrinking the drinking scene, at least for a time, was responsible for him downsizing. “The partiers would come in and eat our pizza, and the 21-ordinance really killed our business,” Risk said. “That was our bread and butter; that was what prompted our business. A lot of people didn’t realize it affected places other than bars. I didn’t even sell beer, but it happened right after …
